Why Use A Hardware Firewall?

Although software firewalls have been sufficient in the past, the size of and access speeds to the internet are increasing rapidly. These are not the only things advancing, hacking software and hackers are becoming smarter, thus it is getting a lot easier for advanced hackers to get through a software firewall, especially for high speed broadband connections, such as ADSL.

Although they are fairly expensive and can be quite difficult to configure, hardware firewalls are the solution. A hardware firewall is essentially a router, some hardware and preloaded software designed specifically for protecting a network or networks. This is better than a software firewall because these devices are designed with specific technology for the sole purpose of giving high-speed routing services while checking packets and transmissions through the firewall engine.

In the case of someone just starting a small business or someone who has owned his or her own business for some time, the internet is very important, and, although it is possible to buy insurance that will replace your computer or other things if they get damaged, how will you get your data back if you have lost it? After having that insurance for a few years it will become more expensive than if you had just bought a hardware firewall and if you choose this option will not lose your data, that’s why it is a much better and safer option.

More importantly, in the case of a big corporal company that has a lot of confidential or private information that must not be seen by the public or competitors this is a most beneficial option that will guarantee that you have good security and are protected from anyone that would try to hack into your system or network to access these files.

You might only use a 56k modem to access the internet and you might think that it’s not worth all of this time and money, but soon dial up modems will be obsolete and you will need this protection whether you want it or not.
